A great deal of expense and effort goes in to running a conference. The messages from speakers are of course the main attraction along side networking and workshops. The true value of a conference can be maximised through video coverage – both real-time or recorded. Here are just some of the ways this can be done:
- Highlights of the speakers' sessions can be included in the published proceedings as flash-drives, DVDs or even a personalised password that can be used on the conference website to access streamed video.
- Professionally produced coverage in various formats can be sold to recoup some of the cost of the conference and can serve as an educational archive/resource for those who were unable to attend.
- Interviews with delegates, speakers and those running workshops can give a real flavour of general opinions or the strength of feeling on issues presented.
- Other formats for use as downloads - e.g. podcast, video-podcast (suitable for mobile phones) and of course the Web.
- Live video coverage can be relayed to other rooms or to the web for virtual conferencing.
